At First Hand Education we offer both day and residential camps for children based on the simple idea that the best way to learn something is by doing it! We think that hands-on activities are also fun activities, so you might find us gathering seeds in the woods in autumn, exploring a magnificent castle in winter, feeding lambs in spring or fishing for trout in summer.

Our unique programmes follow seasonal themes which provide the framework for children to ask big questions and make important connections. To help make these links, the children learn a musical accompaniment that tells the story of the week, which they then share in a vibrant and celebratory performance for their parents and friends on Friday.

Although we are not afraid of the elements it is sometimes nice to escape the wild wintry weather in February .

We use this time to explore some of the wonderful indoor spaces London and it's surroundings have to offer. 'Hiding Places' takes us where we might not normally venture, we will enter bravely, hear secrets, investigate some big questions and most importantly make memories to keep.

In the experienced hands of a London Walks guide we'll discover the secret passageways and hiding places of days gone by.  Work in teams to solve the clues to the riddles that tell the tale of this ancient city.  Back at the base you'll create your own London treasure map based on your experiences.

- CHISLEHURST CAVES -

Spend the morning helping us transform some everyday household materials into master dens. Cook up a builder's lunch then take part in a workshop of dance and music in preparation for Friday's big performance.

Let’s take a trip to Windsor Castle where so many Kings and Queens have taken refuge. We'll discover it's rich history in with an interactive trail and find out the stories hiding there. Let the experience inspire you to create your very own shield.
